Directory Report Card

Directories can be valuable sources of traffic for any blog or website. Not only do people turn to directories to find what they’re looking for, but many directories are syndicated and their contents are added to search engines, news feeds, and blog feeds.

However, not all directories are the same. Some perform better than others. Finding the best directory for your needs isn’t always an easy task. Weeding out the legitimate directories from the fluff can be difficult.

That’s why the Internet Marketing Monitor is running this experiment. We’re going to play guinea pig and submit ourselves to multiple blog directories. But we’re doing more than just trying to get listed. We’re going to report back on our experiences and our results with each directory.

The Directory Report Card is divided into two main sections:

DIRECTORY INFORMATION contains the basics: the directory name, the date we submitted our URL, the date we were added, the number of days it took, any notes on the overall experience, and an overall grade.

DETAILED GRADES & RESULTS goes a little further. In this section we’ll grade each directory on the speed of admission, the ease of submission, the quality of the content admitted into the directory, and our results and/or traffic stats each month.

If you know of a directory that we’ve missed, don’t hesitate to drop us a line and let us know. We’ll give it a try and report back to you!
