In addition to today’s Internet Marketing Monitor coverage, we felt these stories were worth pulling out of the multitude of news items for May 15, 2007:
AOL is getting serious about advertising these days. Not that they weren’t in the past. It’s no wonder that suitors have been throwing themselves at Time Warner’s ISP-turned-portal (or whatever AOL really is these days). According to SEJ, Third Screen Media will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Advertising.com (an AOL property). More players getting into this game = more mobile ads coming. I’m not really looking forward to that. Are you? What are your thoughts on mobile advertising?
If you’re just venturing into the world of search engine optimization, this is a good starting point. If you’ve been here for a while, this is a good reminder. There really should be a different term coined for things like keyword stuffing, cloaking, etc. Those tactics aren’t really SEO and I don’t think “blackhat SEO” conveys the message well. So I’m calling it SEG from now on. That’s right.. SEG: search engine gaming.
Screenshots of Google Local OneBox content (map included) appearing inside the search results (as opposed to the top). Interesting… very interesting. I like the way the OneBox isn’t plopped up at the top of the page but is, instead, ranked according to relevancy based on the search terms… like everything else. MySpace Video to Launch Branded Channels [Business Wire] Yahoo Appoints Blake Jorgensen as Chief Financial Officer [Yahoo! Press Release] IAC Launches Ask Mobile GPS [IAC Press Release] (More coverage at Search Engine Land) Have a great night, folks! See you Wednesday morning.
